Russell James, J.D., Ph.D., CFP®

Russell James is a leading expert in charitable giving whose work helps fundraisers and nonprofit leaders understand what inspires generosity. He serves as University Distinguished Professor and CH Foundation Chair in the School of Financial Planning at Texas Tech University, where he directs the graduate program in charitable financial planning.

As the author of The Biblical Fundraiser Series, Russell connects research on donor decision-making with practical, spiritually grounded approaches to fundraising and stewardship. His experience includes serving as a planned giving director, college president, and attorney focused on estate and gift planning and nonprofit organizations.

At Asset Giving University, Russell brings this blend of research, teaching, and firsthand fundraising experience to help leaders approach asset giving with greater understanding and confidence.
